First off this week Weatherstone’s computer network is being updated. As a STEM school the staff and I felt that it was very important to have an improved wireless network. That being said, our servers and Internet will be taken down around 9am on Tuesday morning. Please note that teachers’ access to email will be limited this week. If everything goes on schedule the Internet will be back up by the end of the week. In the mean time please use the front desk phone number if you need to contact your child’s teacher for any urgent messages.
Kindergarten registration begins Monday morning. Information and required documents can be found on our website. Current students will also receive their 2013-14 school assignments on Monday. Please contact our data manager, Mrs. Davies if you have any questions about student assignments for next year.
Congratulations to Sean Smith a fifth grade student at Weatherstone. He has been named a national finalist in the Scotties Trees Rock video Contest. Sean entered a video on behalf of Weatherstone and is now eligible to win not only a trip for him but also a donation of up to $10,000 for our school. The second part of the contest will begin on January 15th. More information will be posted on our website this week so that families can vote for Sean and Weatherstone from January 15th to February 15th.
This month Weatherstone students will be participating the annual Scripts National Spelling Bee Contest. Students in grades 2-5 received their lists back in December. Study lists are also available in the front office. Classroom Bees take place over the next few weeks and our school spelling Bee for classroom winners will take place on the morning of January 25th. Good luck!
Finally, there will be a PTA meeting at 9am on Friday morning. All families are welcome.
