First off I want to thank all of the families who attended our Meet the Teacher event on Thursday. We had a wonderful time greeting our new and returning families.
For tomorrow please note the following transportation procedures:
Attendance during the first ten days of school is extremely important as rules and procedures are reviewed and staffing is finalized based on student membership.
The school opens to receive students at 8:45am. Prior to that time teachers and staff are preparing for the day and are not able to supervise children. Classes begin promptly at 9:15am. WES’s policy on walking your child to their classroom was changed last year. Please note that during the first two weeks of school you are welcome to do so, however after that, we ask students K-5th grades walk on their own.
Staff is on hand to aid students during arrival and dismissal times all year long.
Carpool tags with procedures on the back, were handed out on Thursday as well. If you
did not receive yours, it will come home with your student this week.
Bus routes expect to be running based on the routes posted on the WCPSS website. If you need assistance please visit the WCPSS website or call our front office to help you. Please be patient with the buses during the first two weeks of school as stops are adjusted to add and remove students. All K-1st graders will have stickers placed on them to assist drivers for the first two weeks of school.
Please note that only students who live in the walk zone area of our school will be dismissed with walkers this year. This is to protect the safety of your child. If your child is not in the walk zone please utilize the carpool
line. Walker tags will be distributed during the first week of school based on our transportation
data.
As with any changes to your child’s regular dismissal, please send in a written note or call the front desk prior to 2:00pm so that the information can be shared with your child and his or her teacher.
The Before and After School programs will begin operation tomorrow starting at 7:00am and running afterschool until 6:00pm. Fees and program forms can be found on our website.
Finally, parents of kindergarten students are reminded that this is Staggered Entry week.
Students only attend school one day Monday-Thursday. Kindergarten Meet the Teacher is from 10:00-11:00am on Friday. Kindergarten Staff will be on hand to welcome students as they enter the building.
Thank you and have a wonderful last night of summer break with your family before we begin our new school year tomorrow morning!
