Congratulations
On Friday two WES Staff members were recognized by our school community. The first award was the Cary Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Month Award. This award is given by the chamber to one teacher in a Cary school each month by a business member. This award was given to Mrs. Yvette Britton, a 2nd grade teacher. It was presented by Mike Gallagher of The Huntington Learning Center. He noted, "She is a veteran teacher who works tirelessly to improve her craft each year. She has been the 2nd grade lead teacher for the past 2 years and is a highly motivating teacher for her students.
Also, the 2015-2016 WES Teacher of the Year was announced. This year's honoree is Ms. Shannon O'Donnell. Ms. O'Donnell is a 3rd grade teacher at WES. Every year the teachers at each WCPSS school elect a representative to honor during the district selection process. Ms. O'Donnell is not only the grade chair this year, but she also has been a member of the WCPSS Teacher Leader Corps for the past two years. As a member of the corps, she volunteers her time to attend district staff development and returns to the school as part of a team of four teachers to present that information and training back to the staff. Ms. O'Donnell is also a staff member in the Before and After School Program.
Congratulations to both of these staff members!
Volunteer Registration Reminders
As a reminder the volunteer renewal process is open through the end of October for those family members who wish to renew their volunteer status from last year. After October 30th, the volunteer application will only be open on Mondays.
If you are new to WCPSS, a volunteer application must be completed for any family member who wishes to chaperone on a field trip or who are working with students out of sight of staff members. This form must be completed on a WCPSS computer.

Volunteers Needed for the Book Fair
The Book Fair Committee is preparing for our annual Scholastic Book Fair which will run November 16 – November 20th. Volunteers are needed to help fold & staple flyers, set up the book fair, stock shelves and process book sales. Any time that you can give, whether one hour or several hours, is appreciated!
We need volunteers as early as Thursday October 29th to assemble flyers.
Sign up here to volunteer. Thanks!
All for Books
The Book Fair will be arriving soon which means it’s time for the All for Books program at WES! This program collects funds to help get books in the hands of as many Weatherstone students as possible. A donation of just $1 will help us raise funds for students at WES that can’t afford to purchase a book at the book fair. A donation slip will be sent home soon in your child’s Tuesday folder. Money collection will run November 4th – November 13th. Thank you for supporting this wonderful program!
