Welcome to the Explorer Express
The Explorer Express (EE) is the weekly electronic newsletter that is sent from the school and the WES PTA to update and remind Explorer Families of important information. Parents and guardians are automatically subscribed to the emails based on the email addresses provided at registration. To unsubscribe follow the directions at the end of the email, or on the WES website. Information for adding additional email addresses to the list can also be found there. Mr. Chadwick also tweets a link where he posts a copy of the newsletter on the WES site under the Explorer Blog.
Superheroes Have Taken Over WES
This year's school theme is based on "Superheroes". Staff will be emphasizing the character traits of not only comic book and movie characters but also everyday heroes in our lives. Be on the look out for the tweets with the hashtag #ExplorerHeroes!
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Please be patient this week as we teach our students the arrival and dismissal routines on campus. Parents are allowed and encouraged to visit the classroom the first two weeks of school but after that we ask that students walk to their classroom independently. Dismissal will take a few extra minutes this week so please plan accordingly.
Follow us on Twitter @WeatherstoneES
Want to see what is happening while your child is at school in real time? Then follow us on Twitter. There you can see pictures and receive updates from your child's teachers. Even if you are not a Twitter user you can visit our homepage and see our feed.
We also post our bus departures each afternoon on this account.
Did You Miss Meet the Teacher?
Students who were not able to attend the Meet the Teacher Event on Thursday should report to the main office or locate their name on the class lists that are still posted in the hallway tomorrow morning.
Join the WES PTA
The Weatherstone PTA needs you! (And we need the WES PTA!) Please take a few minutes this week to Join the WES PTA. They not only provide significant financial support for our school but they also support us in many other ways. Membership forms were sent home from the school on Thursday at Meet the Teacher or you can sign up online here on their website.
There will be a General Membership meeting on 9/20 at 9:15am in the Media Center. Please come to learn more about the PTA and what you can do to support our school.
Kindergarten Staggered Entry Reminder
As a reminder for Kindergarten parents, this week is staggered entry. Your child will attend school only one day this week. All students will then report on Tuesday, September 6th.

Readers' Theater with Mrs. Zon
I am excited about the start of a new school year and being your child’s readers' theater teacher. My goal is to help your child foster a love of reading in a fun and creative way by using puppets, technology, art, classroom performances, and more. The focus this year will be on using the 4 C’s (creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication), developing the students’ reading skills, and helping them become more confident readers. I look forward to a wonderful 2016-2017 school year!
