This past Friday night was full of action at WES! Thank you to all of the students, parents and staff members who supported the acts. The show could not have taken place without the hard work of 4th grade teachers Ms. Whalen and Mr. Hogan. In case you missed it, here is a link to the 2016 Teacher Lip Sync video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Snkjr1w4cko

News from the WES PTA
Celebrate National Bike to School Day
Please consider sharing some time and exercise with your child this upcoming Wednesday as part of National Bike to School Day. Create a memory with your child as you put on your helmets and make your way to school together. If it is too far (or no safe route) or if you would prefer to walk, you can park at two nearby companies who have given permission to park in their lot and bike or walk the short distance to the school.

Studies show that exercise before school improves concentration:
If you want to be kind, encourage your kids to walk or bike. After all, the study showed that children who do display heightened concentration for up to 4 hours longer than children who are driven to school. That’s improved concentration for more than 60 percent of the standard school day. Who wouldn’t want that for their kids?
Step 1: Consider This Opportunity!
Are you looking for the perfect opportunity to stay connected with your school, advise parents on issues and opportunities that directly benefit hundreds of children, work together with other volunteers and advocate for the needs and interests of our student/teacher community? Then consider a position on the PTA - we strive to have representation from all grade levels and cultures.
We have almost a full slate of candidates for the 2016-2017 school year, but we are missing one name...YOURS! The position of Vice President is open. Here is the list of current candidates:
President - Carin Scott
Vice President - open
Treasurer - Dana Hancock (2nd term re-election)
Secretary - Brandi Hale (2nd term re-election)
