Carpool Reminders
Families are reminded that morning carpool does not begin until 8:45am. Students should remain in cars until that time. (Please note that some students who are walkers do arrive to campus prior to that and are to remain outside the front doors.) It is not safe to drop off students and then pass cars who are waiting. Families who need to drop students off prior to 8:45 should contact Mr. Mulford, [email protected],and enroll in the Before School program.
If you arrive after 9:15 all students must be checked into the front office by an adult. Since WES does not have staff outside after that time, we want to be sure that your child arrives to class safely.
Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe!
Weatherstone to Celebrate National Reading Month in March
Continuing to honor our reading theme this school year, Readers Explore and Dream at Weatherstone Elementary School (R.E.A.D. @ WES), we will be celebrating National Reading Month. It all begins on Monday February 29th with a Schoolwide Read-in. Students will participate in many other activities in their classrooms throughout the month as well!
Please mark your calendars for our culminating activity, the annual WES Character Book Parade on March 24th at 9:30am. Students will come to school dressed as a character from a book and parade for other classes and parents. More information about the project as it applies to your child will be sent home from your teacher in the coming weeks.
News from the WES PTA
We Want You…to serve on the Weatherstone PTA!Ever considered strengthening your connection with Weatherstone and having an active role in decision-making and allocation of PTA funds? Now is a great time to consider a position on the PTA - we strive to have representation from all grade levels and cultures.
Our PTA plays an important role in the life of the students at Weatherstone. The PTA is plans and coordinates STEM Expo, International Night, cultural arts assemblies, running club, agendas for 3-5th graders, Reflections Arts Program, hospitality luncheons for the teachers, school fundraisers to earn funds, spending of funds for campus improvements and so much more (check out our website at http://www.weatherstonepta.com).
We are currently seeking to fill the vacancies for next school year - for PTA President and Vice President for the May election. We need you to fill these positions or the PTA will not be allowed to function. Now is the perfect time to consider "STEPPING UP" as you could shadow the current PTA President and receive "on the job" training.
This is a unique opportunity to stay connected, advise parents on issues and opportunities that may benefit the School, work together with other volunteers, and to advocate for the needs and interests of our student/teacher community.
Not ready to serve on the PTA? Then please consider becoming a PTA member. We welcome you to all general PTA meetings. The next one is scheduled for Friday, February 26th at 9:15am in the media center.
To learn more, please contact Catherine Smith, PTA Volunteer (of 8 years) and member of the 2015 Nominating Committee, at keva[email protected] or 571-213-0711.

Boosterthon 2016 Information
Parents! This year’s main fundraiser is the WES Explorers Fun Run! It’ll be a 9-day program where we kick off with a Pep Rally on Tuesday March 1, 2016, families will have time to get pledges for every lap your student runs, and then we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on Thursday March 10, 2016. With our big goal to raise funds for Campus Improvements, we asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it more profitable, easier, and fun. Students will also experience an amazing character theme, Big World Recess! It’s a global fitness theme all about playing with character. Donations will go toward Campus Improvements and to the entire 9-day experience. So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run! Thank you for your support!
