WES Summer Camp
Each summer Weatherstone sponsors an 8 week summer camp full of fun! The camp is run by some of the same staff that organize the Before and After School Program at the school. Students take daily field trips including bowling, swimming, playing at local parks, museums, and much more. There are weekly themes such as sports, STEM activities and even a local martial arts studio comes to visit. The cost of the camp is only $145 a week and includes every field trip with the exception of the $1 movie days and lunch. Camp runs daily from 7:00am to 6:00pm.
Please visit our website for more information. Reserve your spot soon. UPDATE (The 1st two weeks of camp now have a waitlist! Spots are filling quickly for the rest of the summer.)
Community Helper Day
Our 13th Annual Community Helper Day is this coming Wednesday the 22nd from 9:30am to Noon. All of our Kindergarten and First grade classes will get to visit and see up close the work vehicles from the Cary fire dept., Cary police, EMS, Animal Control, National Guard, Town of Cary solid waste truck, a backhoe, a dump truck and a Jet Vac truck.
This means there will be no parking of vehicles allowed in the drop off circle on Wednesday the 22nd. After drop off time concludes no vehicles will be allowed access into the circle to allow for our guests to be able to park and display their vehicles.
School Spirit Day
This Friday is School Spirit Day. Students are encouraged to dress as a Super Hero. Not a fan of any specific super hero? MAKE UP YOUR OWN!! Think of all of the best qualities a super hero should possess and get creative!!!
Morning Carpool Reminders
Parents please note the carpool reminders below that can be found in the WES Handbook on our website. We have had a few instances of students being dropped off away from the curb and walking between cars lately. This is very dangerous.
ARRIVAL:
1. Cars transporting students should enter the car pool lane from Olde Weatherstone Way nearest Castalia.
2. Please remain in single file along the curb while waiting to deliver students.
3. Do not park in the car pool lane and leave your car unattended. Continue the single file and leave by following the car loop exit.
4. In the event you need to enter the building, please pull out of the pick up lane and park in the designated areas. AT NO TIME SHOULD YOUR CAR BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN THE CAR POOL LANE.
5. Students arriving after 9:15 should report to the office to receive an admissions slip.
6. DO NOT drop students off prior to the BELL at 8:45.
Campus Clean Up Day
Please join us for this Saturday from 9-12 for a family friendly event to clean up & beautify our campus! We will be picking up trash through the Town of Cary SPRUCE program (reachers, trash bags, and safety vests will be provided). We’ll also work on improving some garden areas and clean up debris from the front sidewalks and paved areas. See the attached flyer for more information.
Congratulations to our 2015 Science Olympiad Team
Weatherstone Elementary competed in its second Science Olympiad Tournament last weekend. Our students represented our school wonderfully with many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes. This year our school also was chosen for the Science Olympiad Spirit Award. This award is given to only one school who displays teamwork, perseverance, and good sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Way to go WES Students! 4th and 5th graders next year will have a chance to participate. Thank you to 5th Grade teacher Ann Douds, for organizing the team this year, and to all of the parents who helped coach.
News from the WES PTA
OUR BOOSTERTHON FUNDRAISER KICKS-OFF THIS WEEK!
Why Boosterthon? The Boosterthon Fun Run program is a healthy alternative to traditional product sales that raises much-needed funds for our school and over 1400 other schools across America this year. The nine-day program also promotes FITNESS, LEADERSHIP, and CHARACTERduring the fun-filled experience. PLUS, EVERY STUDENT IS INCLUDED whether he or she participates financially or not.
Our school would have to pay thousands of extra dollars to receive around 7000 communication pieces, an interactive character and fitness program, the expert Boosterthon support team, and many more printed resources. Normal fundraisers do not offer this level of service, profitability, fun, AND include every student. Because of all this value, we’re excited to host the Boosterthon Fun Run this year!
This year’s character theme is ROCK’N TOWN LIVE!, a music festival theme all about COMMUNITY. Students will learn five ways they can make their community rock! Feel free to attend the pep rally on Tuesday, April 21st in the gym.
Pep Rally times are as follows:
3rd – 5th grade – 2:00 PM - 2:35 PM
K - 2nd grade – 2:45 PM - 3:30 PM
Don’t miss the FUN RUN on Thursday, April 30 which will be held on the fields by the track.
Fun Run times are as follows:
K-1st grade - 9:50 AM – 10:50 AM
2nd-3rd grade - 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
4th-5th grade - 12:10 PM – 1:10 PM
