First and foremost thank you for your assistance with the unscheduled early dismissal of students this afternoon. Today at approximately 10:15am we discovered that we had an entire campus water backup. We were unable to flush the toilets. At that time, staff remained teaching until we could confirm that the use of the facilities would not be restored before 12 noon. We also made sure to provide lunch services for the students. At noon WCPSS administration made the call that we had to dismiss school at 12:30 in order to have students transported by buses prior to the dismissals of other 1st and 2nd tier schools. I have to commend the WES staff and students as well as our bus drivers, local day care providers and parents for working together today to dismiss students safely home.
School is scheduled to be open tomorrow for our regularly scheduled Early Release day at 1:15. This is a WCPSS scheduled staff development day. Please make sure that you have informed your child’s teacher if there is a transportation change.
Some families have contacted the school about not receiving the Urgent phone message from the county. Please note that each child has one phone number that is entered into the system. If you would like to have that changed from a home line to a cell phone please contact your child’s teacher. We will also have sheets available at open house to confirm current contact information. Our school website and Twitter account also provided families with information on the dismissal updates in real time.
Again thank you for your patience today and for supporting the Weatherstone Community.
